Summary

A new Linux distribution with commercial support

Abstract

Lisa Sullivan will be discussing Red Hat Software, Inc. itself, its history, philosophies, working environment, plans for expansion, etc.

Donnie will be presenting on the new features of Red Hat 5.0:

  • glibc and what it means to Linux
  • kickstart and automated installs
  • wmconfig and its impact on the desktop
  • install refinements - PCI probing, daemon starting/stopping, Disk Druid
  • sound support

Bio

Lisa Sullivan is the Marketing Director, Red Hat Software. She has been with Red Hat (and before that, its predecessor, ACC Corp.) since May 1994. She has held various positions at Red Hat in Customer Service/Sales, Operations, and Product Management before moving to her current position in June 1997. Education: B.A. from Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT (major - English, minor - Psychology – to prepare her for the wacky world of Linux ;-).
Donnie Barnes is the MISC Director, Red Hat Software. Currently in charge of internal operations, documentation, and third party products (Applixware, Motif, CDE, etc). He has been with Red Hat since May of 1995. He graduated from NCSU with a degree in Computer Engineering also in May of 1995.
