Modem that doesn't work on Linux

From: Rahim Semy <rsemy at onwardtech.com>

Is it likely that some WinModems will work on Linux while others will not?

While "WinModem" is a trademark, the term has rapidly become
genericized to mean any modem that does not present the same
hardware-level interface to the computer as the "Hayes standard",
usually because a considerable amount of the functionality of the
modem is performed by the CPU through a specialized driver. And since
the driver is supplied by the manufacturer, drivers are only available
for MS operating systems.

In short, *no* WinModem will work under Linux.
