fetchmail question

I have redhat 5.1, and recently started fooling with fetchmail.

I used fetchmailconf to create /root/.fetchmailrc, but it kept getting
errors, so I just edited the file myself.

I have set daemon 30 in the file, but it doesn't seem to run. What is
supposed to start fetchmail to read the config file? Do I manually have
to put it in rc.local or something?

TIA.
