Mediaone cable modems

I remember seeing comments here about the Mediaone service, which
meant little to me at the time, but a friend of mine in Palo
Alto was raving to me yesterday about her cable modem connection. She
couldn't answer my questions about:

Do they block TCP ports?

Can you run servers?

Would I have a problem telnetting or ssh'ing or ftping into or
out of my machine at home?

Or, to put it in a nutshell, are they a pain in the butt?

Their website, www.mediaoneexpress.com, is too 'dumbed down' to
be intelligible.

Thanks
