Success with X on Thinkpad 560 DSTN (800x600x8bit)

Hi Eric!

> Might we be privy to what you did that made it work?

To tell you the truth, I'm not sure. I used Dave DeLaune's xf86config and
somehow got two devices enabled. I blew both "devices" away and
created a single one with ONE option - 800x600. I also forced 1meg
memory, which I wasn't sure I had? (And still don't know!) I also left
only the 800x600 modeline.

It's still not completely stable though. Weird things happen to the
background after I'm using the machine for a while and I need to
reboot. Just quitting X and going back in leaves the odd aftereffects
or striping when Afterstep comes back up. I hope I can get this
resolved, so this can be the machine I try and get slick with linux
on this summer. Maybe someone can check my xf86config at
the next installfest? ;)

How do I tell what bios version I have on a Thinkpad? When it boots
I see no option for setup .. Just the LILO after a couple seconds.

Thanks again!

Mark
