I like SuSE Linux 6.1. SaX (SuSE Advanced X Configuration Tool) is
impressive. I was able to configure my laptop display settings, rapidly
and accurately and haven't needed xf86Config yet. YaST (Yet another
Setup Tool) is excellent and extremely helpful. I love the KDE package
though I haven't tried GNOME yet.

I personally found Red Hat 5.2 easier to install, because of the spoon
feeding, though it took me longer initially due to installation choices,
cluelessness, etc. I found it easier to do PPP, ethernet, Internet
connection stuff on RH due to LinuxConfig, and UserNet, for modem
dial-in, I'm not impressed with MINICOM, probably there are other tools
available for modem connectivity that I need to look at. I've tried
various installation conditions and I think clean install works better
than upgrading for me.

At one point I had LILO installed and was given the choice of keeping
LILO during a new installation which I did and then it booted to
LI...then quit. Once I find the options I had with RH 5.2, I'll have
SuSE 6.1 figured out, it's nice to play with another distribution.
Thanks for the information,
