printing after upgrade to Red Hat 6.0 issue

I recently upgraded from RH 5.2 to RH 6.0 and I can no longer print. I
printed fine with 5.2. I found Control Panel -- Printtool, and it
autodetected a printer on lp0. However, when I issue the lp <filename>
command, I get the error "Connection refused" and something about lpr
not started. How do I start it.

By the way, I printed a test page in Printtool by sending ASCII directly
to port, but test prints of Post-Script to Printer and ASCII to printer
failed. So it is not a hardware problem. Something to do with lpr that
changed since the upgrade. Help!
Thanks in advance.
