Make free partition a linux partition with fdisk, then

mount /new/partition/ /mount/point/
(probably want to add /etc/fstab entry)

mv /old/directory /mount/point/
ln -s /mount/point/ /old/directory/

man mount, man ln for details

Subcription/unsubscription/info requests: send e-mail with
"subscribe", "unsubscribe", or "info" on the first line of the
message body to discuss-request at (Subject line is ignored).
