Also, I'm using a VGA board with an on board video digitizer from 
Integral Technologies on my Linux system.  

I'm not sure how the inexpensive digital cameras you find in CompUSA (etc)
interface with a Linux system.  They sit on a USB cable.

Good luck transmitting live video, even at 320x200 over 100TX Ethernet...
That's at least a 15% constant load.
