Can't access remote machine anymore



If he can log in, why not have him do a reboot. While the system 
probably does not need a reboot, but if he can log in then the simplest 
thing to tell him is the reboot. Then, after the reboot see if you can get in 
via ssh. If so, you can avoid the drive.
