What are good digital cameras now?

I've been getting more and  more  serious  about  getting  a  digital
camera, and of course I'd like one that can send its pics to my linux
box. Any advice on cameras to look for (or to avoid)? I'd assume that
the answers are totally different from what they were six months ago.
