[BLU] Re: [BLU] Re: Monster.com Accused of Violating Privacy(fwd)

[And I guess I'll go second, for lack of anything really meaningful to do here today at this lame, dead-end "job."]

[Agreed on Winter-Wyman; also had good luck (years ago) with Tech Specialists.]

[Years in the industry: 10]

[Resumes sent out over last 18 months: A couple of dozen (I'm in north-central VT; there's only so many shops around here.]

[F2F interviews: 8]

[Phone interviews: 1]

[Number of interviews it took to get this job three years ago: 4 (driving 250 miles each way between here and MA, and to this day they still don't know what to do with me or why I'm here.]

[Email replies to my inquiries concerning open positions: 3]

[Replies or even acknowledgements of subsequent email thank-you notes and inquiries: 0]

[Number of offers received to date: 0]

[Anecdote: My pay grade was knocked down by HR a step as I arrived here; the person who would have been my manager had left; two weeks later the only other IT person in the building left; my new manager knows as much about IT as I know about organic chemistry; they had me scrambling to learn Oracle for a year to run it on NT and then said they'd changed their minds; forget it. Oh yeah; and they dumped VMS, the o.s. with which I'd mainly worked over the years. Why am I still here? To pay our family's taxes, currently estimated at around 40% of household income, up just a bit from the 5% of 1960, when my late dad supported a wife and five kids by himself.]
