nis problem

I'm having an odd problem w/ nis and I was wondering if anyone has ever
seen / knows howto fix it. The problem manifests itself when I try to push
out a hosts file that has domains. For example, if if have a hosts file
that looks like:

192.168.1.20    bob
192.168.1.21    cat
192.168.1.22    job
192.168.1.23    doe

Then "ypcat hosts" outputs:

$ ypcat hosts
192.168.1.20    bob
192.168.1.21    cat
192.168.1.23    doe
192.168.1.22    job

However, if the hosts file looks like:

192.168.1.20    bob.ld bob
192.168.1.21    cat.ld cat
192.168.1.22    job.ld job
192.168.1.23    doe.ld doe

Then "ypcat hosts" outputs:

$ ypcat hosts
192.168.1.23    doe.ld doe
192.168.1.22    job.ld job
192.168.1.20    bob.ld bob
192.168.1.20    bob.ld bob
192.168.1.21    cat.ld cat
192.168.1.21    cat.ld cat
192.168.1.23    doe.ld doe
192.168.1.22    job.ld job

All entries are now doubled. Very confusing to me. BTW, this is under RH
7.3.
