job opening at reuters in boston



greetings fellow list members.  i hope a job posting is
welcome here...

my employer is looking to fill a customer-facing position with
someone who describes themselves as a unix sysadmin, in spite
of the occasional requirement to touch end user windows boxes.

actual experience with market data systems is not relevant.
frankly, i don't think they expect to find it.

Job Description:

The Boston based Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for the day
to day installation, maintenance and support of Reuters applications,
middleware and hardware at client sites.  These products will include
Triarch, TIB Classic and RMDS components.  Major responsibilities
include:

Installing new Market Data distribution systems at client sites, and
documenting deployed architecture for day 2 support.
Responding to service issues at client sites and resolving all
encountered issues within the time frame specified in the service level
agreement with the client.
Participate in project related work, including bandwidth consolidation,
hardware upgrades, software upgrades e.t.
Work with client to spec out appropriate infrastructure for each system
deployment, ensuring that the system as built will scale to accommodate
future needs.
Provide technical guidance to local TAMs to ensure that client
systems are within Reuters supported specifications
Maintaining a training regimen that ensures that Industry and
Reuters-specific technical skills are up to date.
Work with the Customer Response Center and SMC to ensure that all
service calls are addressed in a timely fashion, and that final
resolution is documented and root cause communicated to the client

Job requirements:

BS in Computer Science or related engineering discipline.  Applicants
with equivalent work experience will also be considered.

At least 5 years performing systems integration at in a client-facing
capacity, preferably in the financial industry.
5-10 years experience, with demonstrated competence in the following
technologies; UNIX (Solaris), Windows NT/2000/XP, Cisco/Nortel router
configuration, RAID, Multicast, TCP/IP (Subnetting, Routing,
troubleshooting, administrative tools), Network Analysis using LAN
sniffers.  In addition, the individual must have working knowledge of
different packet filtering technologies, and the deployment of
applications in firewalled environments.  A strong understanding of
high-availability systems is highly desired.
Experience with shell scripting and/or programming in a high-level
language highly desired.
Experience with Reuters/TIBCO specific technology i.e Triarch, RV,
iFinance, TIBCO Market data systems (TIC,GSM,CiServer, TIB Feedhandlers)
highly desirable.
