Rebates [Re: good local motherboard source?]

My wife recently sent off some rebate coupons and she paid the post
office extra for a delivery receipt--they clerk at the window
immediately knew what she was up to and volunteered that that was the
only way to be sure of getting the rebate.

I think the rebates are designed by the same folks as do the
fulfillment--all as a big package deal.  The idea is for the rebate to
be a promotional tool that doesn't have a very high consumer
compliance rate (otherwise why not just lower the price?).  There is
probably a conflict of interest and an incentive for the fulfillment
house to "lose" some submissions.

I think there is room for a class action law suit of three here.
