the origin of it is one of the funniest newsgroups out there for geeks, 
alt.sysadmin.recovery.  BOFH is Bastard Operator From Hell.  There are 
several other great acronyms that came from that group, like LART (Luser 
Attitude Readjustment Tool) (Luser is a cross between Loser and User).  A 
LART is often implemented as a Clue-By-4 (2-by-4).
