why you should try MythTv

THere was a proejct out there, the problem was adding the TV tuner.

http://www.dreamix.tv/  (they obviously arent playing with the xbox
anymore)

And I can get a Tivo for $99, xbox is $150 + tv tuner hardware.. +
time, energy, effort.
