Postfix and procmail

The last time I use postfix on my system, I was unable to configure
postfix to run procmail using the following configuration:
/etc/postfix/main.cf:
 mailbox_command = /path/to/procmail

I could never get procmail to run. 

I know I could always use my .forward file. 

Since I am planning to upgrade my desktop system, I plan to use postfix
again. Any comments.
