New FC3 Install for Dual Boot w/ WinXP Fails After BIOS

And you won't...  you have the hiddenmenu option set in your
grub.conf:

  The hidden menu interface
  =========================

  When your terminal is dumb or you request GRUB to hide the menu
  interface explicitly with the command `hiddenmenu' (*note
  hiddenmenu::), GRUB doesn't show the menu interface (*note Menu
  interface::) and automatically boots the default entry, unless
  interrupted by pressing <ESC>.

I suggest that you boot with knoppix and remove this option, and see
if anything changes.  It may allow you to get a better sense of what's
going on.  It may be that booting windows has somehow become hosed,
but you may still be able to boot linux.  If not, it might at least
suggest what the problem is...
