OT: trouble with Linksys RT41P2

I have had Comcast, AT&T, Mediaone, Highway1 for over 10 years. Comcast
has been the most reliable. 

WRT: Router. I have a Linksys BEFSR41 which has running 24X7 for several
years. If I reset the cable modem (which I did when Comcast boosted the
speed from 3M to 4M), the router comes right up and gets the old IP
address. I have the same MAC address on the router's WAN port that I do
on the primary PC NIC, But I don't think that Comcast checks those MAC
addresses. 
Also note that I reset the router when my daughter comes over to enable
or disable the wireless. That causes it to obtain a new lease.
