Wanted: Sr. Web Developer (LAMP)



I need to fill a contract position for a Senior Level Web Developer.

Working at OASIS (http://oasis-open.org), the standards consortium, in
Billerica, MA the Sr. Web Developer would take a lead role in
implementing a Document Management solution on the Linux, Apache,
MySQL, PHP (LAMP) platform that leverages Open Source software,
technology and frameworks.

In-depth expertise with Horde, Drupal, EZSystems or similar free
software frameworks written in PHP is a must.

Here is an idea of the job requirements:

Job Title: Senior Web Developer / Architect
This is a CONTRACT Job Opportunity

Job Description: The Architect provides technical leadership and is
responsible for the overall technical quality and project
implementation, including specifying frameworks, and core technologies
that lay the foundation for the software from the presentation layer
to system level services. The Architect defines the information flow,
presentation, and the underlying tools and technologies. The Architect
works with management and project stakeholders to define requirements
and implementation plans.
The Architect also has full or partial responsibility for Project
Management, Technical Leadership and developers on each project, in a
technical oversight role. The Architect helps mentor resources and
project leads in development methodologies.
* Responsible for the technical quality of the user interface and
presentation layer
* Definition of technology and architectural vision and roadmap
* Definition and management of architecture
* Review of designs
* Review of code
* Leverage free and open source technologies
* Standards compliance
* Development of key components and frameworks
* Management of major software technical issues
* Mentoring resources on technical and architectural concepts for software
* Supporting design and development activities as technical oversight
* Management and definition of standards, guidelines and processes for
development


Job Requirements:
Preparation, Knowledge,Previous Experience:
* Minimum 5 years of lead web development experience
* Experience in architecting and overseeing large website development
projects and/or web-enabled enterprise software solutions
* Understanding of advanced software development methodologies and concepts
* Experience with advanced development environments and infrastructure
* Experience with full product lifecycle from scope to customer release
* Minimum of 10 years experience in the software development industry
* Experience with (Debian) Linux, ideally Solaris too
* Experience in design and development of UI's for large content
management and document management systems
* Experience in templating techniques
* Minimum of 6 years experience in Object Oriented Analysis, Design, Programming

Skills, Abilities, Competencies:
* 5+ years of web development technologies on Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP
* Debian GNU/Linux
* Apache 1 and 2
* MySQL 3, 4, and ideally 5
* PHP 4 and 5
* PEAR and PEAR coding standards
* HTML, HTTP and related protocols
* MVC pattern and other OO patterns
* javascript including AJAX, DHTML, DOM and cross-browser standards
* XML, XSLT
* Smarty or other PHP template engines
* SOAP, UDDI, WSDL a plus
* Web Services
* 5+ years of web server experience (Apache, Tomcat, Websphere, etc.)
* 5+ years experience in web application development and tools (IDEs,
debuggers, prototype, UI testing tools, profilers, jsunit, simpletest,
phpunit, phpDocumentor)
* Experience with Zope Middleware technologies including messaging and
rules and workflow tools a plus

Level of Education Required:
* Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree.
