And to add the most obvious extra info:

composite: 1 RCA jack, typically yellow.

S-video: 1 mini-DIN jack, typically yellow, looks sort of like a
PS/2 keyboard jack.

component: 3 RCA jacks, typically red, green and blue to
differentiate from a composite (yellow) plus right-and-left
audio (red and white)
