Sounds like you got the "One size fits all" response: every legislator 
who submits a bill routinely circulates a summary that can be sent to 
anyone who enquires, just to reassure you that your public servents are 
doing their job as best they can.

If it were me, I'd write her back and say she isn't doing her job by 
sending you that kind of pablum, and tell her you'll ask your friends to 
vote against her if she doesn't take a stand. WRITE THE LETTER IN 
LONGHAND: they pay a lot more attention to hand-written letters than to 
typed letters or email, both of which are very easy to do on a 
mass-mailing basis.
