E-commerce Systems Engineer

Christianbook.com, the world?s largest Christian e-commerce site, 
serving Business-to-Consumer customers for 25 years, is looking for a 
Senior Unix System Administrator/Oracle DBA to join our in-house, 
mature, Web Development team.  You should have 5+ years of experience 
and a strong background in OS/software support, Oracle DBA skills, and 
possess an enthusiastic, can-do, team attitude.

This position is responsible for achieving the overall technical 
integrity of our E-Commerce infrastructure by conducting routine 
hardware and software audits of servers and the network, to ensure 
compliance with established standards, policies, security protocols,
and configuration guidelines. This position also requires that the
candidate stay abreast of current technologies and contributes and
participates in the recommendation of new strategies and/or
technologies to improve the e-commerce systems environment.

EXPERIENCE:
Candidate should have experience working with a combination of the 
following:
?	Solaris, Red Hat Linux
?	Oracle 8i, Oracle 9i, Oracle 10g, Oracle Stand-By Database,
Oracle DataGuard
?	Experience with MySQL administration a plus
?	Knowledge of Perl, ModPerl, Apache
?	Veritas Volume Manager, File System, and Sun Online Disk Suite
?	Veritas NetBackup, Sun Enterprise Backup, tar, cpio, dd and
AMANDA ?	Experience in a production Oracle environment,
tablespace management, database user management, sqlplus,
starting/stopping databases, database backup/recovery, database
performance tuning ?	Candidate must possess a strong networking
background and have experience with: Switches (3com, Cisco)
?	Routers (Cisco)
?	Firewalls (Nokia, Checkpoint, Linux IPTables)
?	Experience with load-balancing, SSL acceleration, caching, and
content distribution are desired
?	WAN (BGP) connectivity via a multi-homed environment
?	Applicable networking skills :
o	NIS, LDAP, NFS, DNS
o	Windows integration (SAMBA)
o	Candidate should also possess experience with TCP/IP and other 
internet applications

RESPONSIBILIITES:
?	Hardware/software configuration of servers
?	Capacity planning and evaluation
?	Participate in 24X7 on-call rotation
?	Configuration/implementation of the production software. 
(Solaris/Linux/Apache/mod_perl/Perl/Shell/Oracle/MQ/ssh/)
?	Migration/consolidation of servers to new hardware
?	Implementation of change controls
?	OS/Application testing and troubleshooting
?	Server patch management/upgrades
?	Server Backup and recovery
?	Network Topology design and implementation
?	Analyze production performance issues and resolve them


Candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively and possess 
the ability to produce written documentation.  The person in this role 
is responsible for the overall security and integrity of the 
organization's electronic data, data systems and networks.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
4-year Technical Degree required
5+ years of experience in a production e-commerce environment
