building RPM's



Here is a good PDF on how to build and RPM using the rpmbuild command.
It also contains a lot of info on naming conventions.  Routinely, some 
projects are made available by the project in a standard tarball, and 
volunteers generally create Red Hat, Fedora, SuSE and other RPMs.
