cups admin problem with Ubuntu

I can connect using
telnet localhost 631
I get the cup administration screen with
http://localhost:631
using both lynx and firefox
I did try the gnome print manager and my printer was listed only I
couldn't connect. This may be that I have never used the gnome print
manager and don't know the proper setup
When I setup using the cups administrator on the web I use
lpd://192.168.1.2/binary_p1
should I use this in gnome print manager?
How do you set your window sudo -i mode?
Thanks
Jay
