file recovery for bad drives

Also, the partitions I want are in a LVM Volume Group. I'm able to put
in an external usb case and see the /boot partition, but can't see any
of the LVM partitions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Subject: file recovery for bad drives

I have an ext3 drive that I need to recover files from. I know there
are commercial products out there, but are there any free/open source
ones?
