Strange PPP Disconnect errors?

Intellectual curiosity forces me to ask:  did you ever check out a
pppd that handles CBCP?  Your Windows/pcap capture definitely included
packets that were asking for this, and a quick search tells me that
there have been some problems with this option.  

OTOH, I can't understand how "nomagic" and "noendpoint" helped if this
was a CBCP-related problem. 

I'm confused.
