Ubuntu commercial support is the same as Vista Ultimate?!?!

I don't understand - what is the number to call for Microsoft support?
Years ago there was an 800 number where they would answer a question for
$30 - I used it several times, but that was discontinued long ago. The
replacement is $49 and restricted to software assurance customers so I
can't comment on it. The old number did have the amusing feature that if
they had to lie to you for some commercial reason, they didn't actually
post the charge to your account. You didn't have to complain or resist,
but the charge wouldn't show up.

Not that I am so enthusiastic about commerical Linux support. There are a
few firms offering support for a fixed fee per incident in the $350-$500
range. I have never patronized them, even when I had a problem worth that
much to fix for fear that they would close the incident with a quick "that
software/hardware/feature is not supported by kernel 2.x.y" and collect
the money anyway without actually helping me out. Does anyone have
experience with commercial Linux support? What is it actually like?
