Detox appears to be unmaintained by the authors and thus, I am already 
questioning it's validity.  The problem is that it relies on flex <= 
2.5.4, whereas most distros, like Ubuntu, utilize much higher versions 
(2.5.33 here in Feisty).  So, unless you downgrade or patch flex, you 
can't build it.  This is because detox relies on an old function of flex 
which was changed in newer revisions...

You will see this when compiling:
undefined reference to `yywrap'

The same issue existed in syslog-ng as well apparently...
