easy regex question: stops on some white space?

I can't tell from your sample text, but is it supposed to be spanned 
across multiple lines? Having an RE match newlines tends to be 
language-specific.

Generally I'd recommend checking the documentation for whatever language 
you are using to see what characters aren't matched by ".", and what 
options might be requires to expand the scope.

You might be running into character set limits and need to take steps so 
that your language treats the string as a Unicode string.
