I am very glad that you found my experiences with Ubuntu to be useful.
 Linux gives you the power of choice.  Some people really enjoy SuSE
Linux, and many others choose one of the other myriad distros
available.  It's all up to you, which is why we love it so much :-)

As I have probably mentioned before, I converted my family's PC
desktop to Ubuntu in 2005, and they have never looked back either.
The spyware / virus issues are no more.  I don't get frantic 3AM phone
calls from my father any longer, and my legally-blind step-mother
loves Compiz's zoom feature and "negative" plug-in, which allows her
to invert the desktop appearance using WIN+n as she wishes.  This is
really a life saver, since in Windows, we were not aware of any such
functionality that could compare to this and was a free add-on.  Linux
made the whole family much happier with the computer.  I am glad that
you found the same to be true :-)
