Yep you have not the wrong end of the stick but the wrong stick. See 
Ubuntu means "Linux for human beings", Linux means "Software for 
nerds" we can't hope to fight the Linux perception but at least we can 
show ubuntu and strengthen it's name as software designed for real 
people and real organizations.
