 Actually, I have to further amend earlier posts: looks like the 8800GT 
outperforms the older and more expensive 8800GTS! I'm guessing that the 
8800GTS and GTX are not long for this world, and will be replaced by new 
8900 models using 65nm technology. Either that, or we're about to see a 
9-series. 

Meanwhile, ATI is working on a Radeon 3800HD, so the video card plot 
thickens. I'd be wary of ATI cards for Linux, though, unless their 
driver support improves.
