Somewhat OT: Limit of 114 files on 1GB SD card?

 I'm trying to move some files to my newly-received SD cards (my media 
player actually takes external cards).  However, I can't seem to copy 
more than 114 files to the thing, regardless of how much space they take 
up.  Anyone ever hear of anything like this?
