VLC/mplayer (Re: The Linux desktop challenge)

FWIW, I love VLC, but I find that mplayer with all the *extra* codecs 
tends to play WMV and other proprietary codecs much more nicely. 
Your distro may or may not have packages for the *extra* codecs. 
Fedora/Livna does not... I had to download from the mplayer home page.
