Oh, it's definitely funny.  This is the you-must-be-smarter-than-this- 
chair-to-use-a-UNIX-machine test. 

It also contains a few valuable life lessons: 

- don't do stuff just because some random stranger tells you to. 
- backup your data.  (and test the backups!)
