I recently moved away from VMware Server and started using VirtualBox. 
 It is a great FOSS product.  The onyl thing that sucks is if you 
don't want NAT networking.  In the case that you want to connect 
directly to the virtual machine, it takes a lot of configuration.  It 
is not as simple as VMware's bridge mode networking...
