10 seconds ago I held in my hand a solaris express developer edition 
dated 9/07, which came in the mail in January. I need to find a good 
machine to throw it on however. 

My favourite non-linux/bsd operating system is Plan 9 From Bell Labs, 
however. It's quite brilliantly designed (but I haven't looked at the 
implementation, however) in my opinion.
