I did not think to keep notes about what went wrong, except that I moved 
the problem applications into a folder named problems. Unfortunately, I 
purged that folder when dealing the shadowstorage mystery, no doubt 
accelerating the shadowstorage problem. 

Several, I think. Maybe only a few... Off the top of my head, GnuCash (i 
don't recall my problem), JMoney (I think a lot of 
categories/groups/accounts did not exist and creating them was 
exhausting - this problem might have been a different application...), 
GFP (I'm pretty sure I tried this one and it just did not install), 
jGnash (had to have been one, because apart from GnuCash I only chose 
highly downloaded Java applications). On reviewing the projects at 
SourceForge, I think these might be all. Sorry I cannot recall more detail.
