I've seen classes associated with the local cable-access channel 
organizations, public libraries and adult education centers. 
Some quick checking of Cambridge/Somerville shows that the cable 
access people seem to only do video editing classes 
now.  However,  Cambridge Adult Education still has classes:

that seem relevant. 

I don't know about Boston, but I'm guessing there probably similar 
organizations there as well.  You might also look into adult education 
associated with the public schools...
