I used the link for IBM ChordStats provided by Don
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/library/os-linuxmusic/index.html

and it works really well.  They describe how to customize it.
ChordStat uses vmstat to provide computer statistics.  However, you
could easily connect any process to it.
