menu bar missing from gnome-terminal and evince in fedora 12

Tried running gnome-terminal --show-menubar , to no avail.

In gnome-terminal, tried shift-f10, uncheck and recheck show menubar, to 
no avail.

Tried uninstalling and reinstalling gnome-globalmenu .
