Thunderbird email composition question

A member of another list wants to know if there is a way to display the
approximate size of the message being composed. One solution is to save
the message and check the size in drafts. While we normally send email
plain text that rarely exceeds the message size limit on this list,
other lists allow html, but still have a size restriction. It would be
nice if there were an add-on to be able to display the size when the
message is being composed, or at least a button to display the
approximate size. I've done some looking for add-ons, but I have not
found any.
