Laptops and hardware virtualization



Another choice bit on what Richard said a few days ago about instruction
privs and so on....

This paper discusses exactly *which* instructions required special
handling or modifications (vt,svm) in the instruction set:

As for Hyper-V.  You have to have Server2008 64-bit to even be allowed
to look at it.  Guaranteed to wall itself off into the MS special
enterprise garden.

I'm KVM and some ugly launch scripts.

ccb, running kvm-amd.ko with QEMU on a $299 Compaq "staples special"
with no special doohickey in the BIOS....
