NAS devices

That would make Clem Cole happy :-). I think that the DIY route may be 
what we will end up doing. While we have 2 IA64 boxes sitting in a 
closet, upgrading them to the latest SATA technology would not be very 
cost effective, but they would be dedicated NAS boxes. The existing 
unused x86_64 box that is waiting for parts is limited to 16GB of 
memory. It is identical to 4 other boxes that we upgraded to 64GB. My 
boss will make a decision on that as soon as we get the outstanding 
parts. As I did mention, there is a political issue in that we want to 
avoid any issues with our IT department in Toronto. All of our computers 
in the rack are Intel Whiteboxes that are loaners, but we did buy the 
rack, KVM, switches, and rack mounted keyboard/monitor. I'd personally 
prefer a system that we could dedicate to NFS (and to a lesser extent 
CIFS). My boss is tech savvy, he will decide what approach he wants 
within budget.
