FIOS - Mythtv Questions

The HD-PVR can record any and all channels that can be spit out the
component video output of the box. (Which is generally "all channels
you're subscribed to").

No. Its driven by a standard v4l device driver. 'cat /dev/video0 >
foo.ts' even works to record something.

Caveat emptor: you need a way to change channels on the cable box. The
HD-PVR includes an onboard IR blaster, but folks have had mixed
results with occasional device lockups when the blaster part is
enabled. Figuring out a solution to that is on my TODO list (as is
converting the IR driver over to ir-core), but I haven't got to it
yet.
