[Discuss] Low end color laser printers

I still need to run some more tests on my HP CLJ 4500, this time from my
wife's Windows system just to exclude the Linux drivers.
While I may just get an ink jet, I'm seeing some Brother Color Lasers
for under $300 (HL-3045CN and HL-3075CW). I also saw on a quick check
yesterday a Brother network color laser with a duplexer for under $300
(HL-4150 refurbished).
The HP OfficeJet Pro 8100 is also network ready and has a duplexer for
about $99 (currently on sale at Staples) so I may just end up with an
ink jet. HP has mostly been Linux friendly and they open sourced their
Linux drivers many years ago. Epson, AFAIK, has been pretty Linux
friendly as well as Brother.

In any case, if I can determine that the color printing problem with the
4500 is hardware related, I'll give the printer away. It prints black
and white very well and has a 500 sheet feeder. I sent my test document
to my wife so she can print from Windows.
