[Discuss] New to the list - self intro - Phil Shapiro

Although I live and work in the DC-area, I like to keep track of what's happening in the open source movement around the country. My day job is as the Public Geek at the Takoma Park Maryland Library, which offers 28 Linux stations to Takoma Park residents seven days a week. We also offer free wifi to out of town visitors seven days a week.

In my free time I blog for opensource.com (a web site sponsored by Red Hat) and enjoy taking donated computers to families in Takoma Park that don't have computers. I deliver Mac, Linux and Windows computers -- while letting recipients know that Linux is my preferred operating system. I can honestly say that the smartest young geeks who visit the library where I work love open source. It warms my heart when a fresh young face tells me, "Open source - it just makes better sense." or "Open source - it's what I believe in."

Looking forward to learning from others on the list.
