[Discuss] Launching mplayer from firefox?

If I read this right, you're trying to make a web server and a web 
browser work like a local file manager. Why bother? Just browse for the 
file with your file manager of choice (Thunar, Nautilus, PCMan, 
whatever), double-click, watch video.

If you're going to stick a web server and a web browser into the mix 
then you'll be better off installing a proper media streaming server. 
There are plenty to choose from. No, I can't make recommendations; I use 
the method described in the previous paragraph.
